Short Biography: Lanthanos Faustus Desrever III was born the son of a standard middle-class family and sent to education. He was a notorious slacker, and showed no sign of ever becoming anything until one day, he picked up a book on alchemy and read it. His whole outlook on life changed and he worked like a visionary on the art.
----Seeing no feasible way to create a philospher's stone, Lanthanos sought instead to extend the human lifespan by alternate means. By combining human cells with crystal and rock structures, he sought to make his race more durable to the sands of time. He was proclaimed as a genius, until time for testing the procedures came.
----Fifty people volunteered for the experiments, less than five survived. Those who did manage to leave through the procedure were crippled for life, and died a few months later from organ failures. Lanthanos was chased from the scientific community as a menace. So he continued his studies in solitude. All this happened by the time he was 21.
----After 5 years of independent study and examination, Lanthanos figured out where he had gone wrong. Humans were carbon-based, so the procedure would natural have to create carbon-based crystals in order to properly fuse with the human subject. With no other subjects, he performed the procedure on himself, with frightening results. He succeeded in extending his own lifespan, for it is now 20 years later and he doesn't appear to have aged a day, but at the literal cost of an arm and a leg.
----Still, the loss wasn't a complete disaster, for he gained mystical control over the growth and movement of crystals. His life in solitude made him vengeful, and he has slowly been plotting how to get back at those who once scoffed at him.[/shadow]
